Dexter Morgan is getting older. Apparently, that just means he needs a slightly better view of whoever is on his table. Paramount+ has released the first teaser for Dexter: Resurrection season 2, putting Michael C. Hall‘s antihero back in action with reading glasses, some nasty new faces and an official premiere date. Watch the teaser above and get the details below.
Dexter Is Back and “Sharper Than Ever”
The teaser has a kill room, yes, but it also has an eye test. Dexter undergoes an eye exam before being fitted with glasses, giving the season its cheeky “sharper than ever” punchline.
More on Screen Realm:
There is a little more behind the gag than simply acknowledging that Hall has been playing Dexter for two decades. Showrunner Clyde Phillips told Entertainment Weekly that ageing will factor into the new season. “One of our themes is midlife crisis,” Phillips said. “Dexter’s dealing with middle age as best he can. He’ll get a pair of glasses, because he can’t read his iPhone. But he still does what he does best.”
Unfortunately for Dexter, deteriorating eyesight may be the least complicated thing on his plate.
Three New Killers Enter Dexter’s Orbit

Season 2 is bringing three new murderers into the picture, although two appear to be the major threats Dexter finds himself caught between.
Dan Stevens joins the series as Lucas Stark, dubbed the Five Borough Killer, a younger murderer whose crimes are spreading fear across New York. His growing notoriety appears to strike a particularly interesting nerve with Dexter, a man who has spent most of his life ensuring nobody knows exactly what he has done.
At the other end of the spectrum is Brian Cox as Don Framt, aka the New York Ripper. Framt terrorised New York years earlier and is no longer actively killing, but he hasn’t exactly retired quietly. He continues to embrace his notoriety and torment those left behind by his murder spree.
Then there is Gabriel Luna, joining in a guest role as Ray Ballard, the Sleepy-Eyed Stranger. Ballard’s methods sound especially unsettling. Rather than immediately attacking his targets, he reportedly enters their homes unnoticed and makes subtle changes to their surroundings, leaving signs that somebody has been there before eventually making his move.
Dexter may be getting older, but the competition certainly isn’t getting any friendlier.
A Three-Year Jump Changes Things for Harrison Too
The new season will jump forward three years, and there is a practical reason for it.
Harrison Morgan (Jack Alcott) is now 21 and pursuing a career with the NYPD, creating a potentially awkward new dynamic between father and son. Dexter may be trying to keep his darker impulses hidden, but Harrison is moving directly into the world responsible for catching people exactly like him.
Paramount+’s official synopsis lays out a particularly busy chapter ahead. Dexter finds himself caught between two murderers: one carrying decades of notoriety and a long history of victims, the other a younger face terrifying New York in a way the city hasn’t encountered before. At the same time, Dexter is dealing with an unexpected adversary of his own in middle age, while Harrison continues pursuing his version of justice. Together, father and son are heading into what Paramount+ describes as their “darkest chapter yet.”
Uma Thurman returns as Charley, while Desmond Harrington is back as Joey Quinn and has been promoted to series regular. Krysten Ritter will also return as Mia LaPierre, better known as Lady Vengeance.
When Does Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 Come Out?
Dexter: Resurrection season 2 premieres Friday, October 30 on Paramount+.
The date puts Dexter back on screens immediately before Halloween, while also continuing a franchise that reaches its 20th anniversary in 2026. The original Dexter premiered back in October 2006.
