We were lucky enough to have a video chat with Elisha Cuthbert to discuss her new horror film The Cellar, which is now streaming on Shudder. Watch the chat above and the film’s trailer below.
This marks a return of sorts to the genre for Cuthbert, who starred in a number of horror/thriller films in her early career, including House of Wax, Captivity, and The Quiet. Before she played Kim Bauer on hit Keifer Sutherland series 24, she was even a young star on Nickelodeon horror anthology television series Are You Afraid of the Dark?.
We chat to Cuthbert about returning to horror, what it was that attracted her to The Cellar, her experience making the film in Ireland during the pandemic’s early days, working with up-and-coming actress Abbie Fitz, the strange fly issue during the production, her favourite horror films, and more.
Written and directed by Brendan Muldowney (Pilgrimage), The Cellar tells the story of Keira Woods, whose daughter mysteriously vanishes in the cellar of their new house in the country. Keira soon discovers there is an ancient and powerful entity controlling their home that she will have to face or risk losing her family’s souls forever.
