In what’s a surprisingly close-to-release trailer drop for a Marvel film, the first official teaser for Thor: Love and Thunder has finally been released by Marvel Studios.

Chris Hemsworth returns as the God of Thunder in the hero’s fourth solo outing – which is “solo” mostly in the sense that it has his name on the title. As the exciting trailer below confirms, not only do we have the Guardians of the Galaxy here, there’s also King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (director Taika Waititi, back as the hilarious Kronan warrior), and, all importantly, Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), now wielding our hero’s magical hammer, Mjolnir, and taking on the mantle as the Mighty Thor.

The plot follows Thor and co. as they attempt to combat a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher, played by Oscar winner Christian Bale. They embark on a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover what’s behind God Butcher’s mission of vengeance.

Waititi returns at the helm after directing Thor: Ragnarok. He also penned Love and Thunder‘s screenplay alongside Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (Someone Great, Unpregnant).

Mark the date: Thor: Love and Thunder will be opening in Australian cinemas on July 7th and U.S. cinemas on July 8th. Take a look at the trailer, as well as the film’s first official poster beneath it.
