Principle photography has been completed on the follow-up to Netflix‘s 2020 Chris Hemsworth actioner, Extraction.
News on the filming wrap was shared on social media by Sam Hargrave, the stunt coordinator turned director who made his directorial debut with Extraction and continues at the helm for the sequel.
“What a ride,” Hargrave says in a video from the set of Extraction 2. “Thank you to all the cast and crew. This has been an amazing journey and I’m so excited for you all to see the final product.”
Hargrave also shared a giant group photo that was taken of the cast and crew on the film’s Prague set. “Without all of you, this film would not have been possible,” Hargrave captioned the pic. “Thank you for making this epic journey so memorable and enjoyable.”

Hargrave’s principal photography wrap comes around a week and a half after Hemsworth’s last day of filming. The Aussie star posted a video of a thank you speech he gave to the crew, pointing out the climate they had to deal with and the daunting task the team had of pulling off a sequence involving a helicopter and a train (a taste of that scene is seemingly in the image above).
“I remember the first couple days shooting, sitting on the train – snow, weather conditions. Trying to land a helicopter on a moving train, thinking, ‘How the hell are we going to do this?’ And here we are, four, five months later, having done that and much, much more. And it’s thanks to every single one of you.”
Hemsworth is reprising his role of black ops mercenary Tyler Rake. Sure, he was shot in the neck at the end of the last film and was seen falling from a bridge into a river. But, franchise potential meant one thing: He’s A-OK! Netflix confirmed it in September 2021, releasing a video showing Rake rising from the depths.

When it was clear just how big Extraction was for Netflix, a sequel was a no-brainer. The streamer revealed that around 99 million households tuned in to watch the film in its first four weeks of release.
Extraction 2 is written by returning scribe Joe Russo, who also produces alongside the other half of the Russo brothers, Anthony Russo, and Patrick Newall.
No release date as yet. It’s safe to assume that Netflix will at least be releasing a teaser trailer soon… hopefully.
