The wasteland is calling once again, and if what star Walton Goggins has to say is any indication – Fallout season 2 is going to be bigger and better.
“Goggins, who plays a former actor-turned-mutated-bounty-hunting ghoul in the series, shared an exciting update while attending the red carpet premiere of The White Lotus season 3.”
“We’re in the middle of filming it right now, we’ve been at it since November,” he said to Deadline. “And I can tell you that I thought Season 1 was extraordinary—personally, I was very pleased with it.”
Then he took it up a notch. “This blows it out of the water. What these writers have done and the artisans that have come together to tell this story… it’s really gonna be something. I can’t wait for people to see it. We’re working really hard to make that happen.”

That’s an exciting, bold promise, particularly when you consider how well the first season was received. The Prime Video series, based on Bethesda’s iconic video game franchise, dropped viewers into a retrofuturistic wasteland where survivors emerge from underground vaults centuries after nuclear devastation—only to find that what’s left of the world is even weirder and more dangerous than they ever imagined.
Season 2 has seen some behind-the-scenes changes, including a shift in production from New York to Los Angeles – a decision fuelled by a hefty $US25 million tax credit. Filming was briefly put on pause due to California wildfires but has since resumed. The cast is growing, too. Macaulay Culkin has joined the show, and there are also rumours that Kumail Nanjiani might be on board (though nothing has been made official on that end).
Executive producer Jonathan Nolan hinted at even more chaos in a 2024 interview with The Wrap, teasing, “There are more monsters, more environments, more factions that we are currently designing and building […]. So we’re really excited.”
Goggins will be back on screens when The White Lotus season 3 premieres on February 16th, but Fallout fans will have to be patient. Judging by his excitement, though, it should be worth the wait.
