First ‘Five Nights at Freddy’s 2’ Trailer: Animatronic Terror Returns – This Time, They’re Out of the Pizzeria

The first teaser trailer has been unleashed for Five Nights at Freddy’s 2, the follow-up to the surprise 2023 horror hit. Take a look above.

The first film, an adaptation of Scott Cawthon’s Five Nights at Freddy’s video game series, cost around $US20 million to make and earned an impressive $US297 million worldwide —Blumhouse’s biggest ever result.

Director Emma Tammi returns for the sequel, which sees Josh Hutcherson back as reluctant security guard-turned-protector Mike. Also returning: Piper Rubio as his sister Abby, Elizabeth Lail as police officer Vanessa, and Matthew Lillard as the deeply unsettling William Afton.

The animatronics are back, and they’re not just sticking to the pizzeria. The teaser opens with one of them powering on, before we hear: “Welcome back… Are you ready to start the show?” There’s a brief flurry of eerie moments—including Mangle smashing through a window, Balloon Boy powering up, Freddy at a fair, and Mike reading a note that says I’ve gone to fix my friends. “They’re out there, Mike,” Vanessa warns. “Where?” Mike asks. “Everywhere.” Just before the trailer finishes, we hear who could be Afton snarling the final word: “Showtime!”

Wayne Knight joins the cast in a mystery role. Tammi again co-wrote the screenplay with Seth Cuddeback and game creator Scott Cawthon, with Cawthon also returning to produce alongside Jason Blum.

Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 will be released in Australian cinemas on December 4th and U.S. cinemas on December 5th.
