IFC and Shudder have released the official trailer for Forbidden Fruits, a cult horror comedy set inside a mall store where the sisterhood comes with rules and consequences. Lili Reinhart, Lola Tung, Victoria Pedretti, and Alexandra Shipp lead the film. Watch the trailer above, then read on for what’s going on inside Free Eden.
A mall store with a very dark basement
The feature debut for writer-director Meredith Alloway, who co-wrote the script with Lily Houghton, Forbidden Fruits is set inside Free Eden, a boho-chic mall store where the price tags are loud and the vibes are aggressively curated.

Reinhart plays Apple, a Free Eden employee who secretly runs a witchy femme cult in the store’s basement after hours with fellow “fruits” Cherry (Pedretti) and Fig (Shipp). When Pumpkin (Tung), a new hire from Sister Salt’s pretzel shop, is pulled into their orbit, the sisterhood starts to crack.
Lili Reinhart leads the ensemble
Reinhart, Tung, Pedretti and Shipp form the core quartet, with Emma Chamberlain appearing as a Free Eden shopper. Gabrielle Union also stars, though the trailer keeps her role mostly under wraps.
Off-screen, the film also has Jennifer’s Body writer Diablo Cody among the producers, which fits the lane here: horror-comedy with teeth, and a clear interest in the messy politics of “sisterhood” when it turns into control.

Release date and SXSW premiere
Forbidden Fruits will make its world premiere at the 2026 SXSW Film and TV Festival on March 16. IFC and Shudder will release the film in U.S. cinemas on March 27.
