‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’ Trailer Brings Back Jennifer Love Hewitt, Freddie Prinze Jr. — and That Hook

The hook is back—and so are the secrets. Sony has released the official trailer for I Know What You Did Last Summer, a direct sequel to the ‘90s slasher horror staples that returns franchise originals Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. for another scream-filled summer. Take a look at the trailer above and learn more below.

Directed by Do Revenge filmmaker Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, the new chapter finds a fresh group of teens caught in a very familiar nightmare after a deadly accident and a pact to cover it up. Sound familiar? It should—until it doesn’t. As their bodies start dropping and secrets unravel, this new generation turns to two survivors of the infamous 1997 Southport Massacre: Julie James (Hewitt) and Ray Bronson (Prinze Jr.).

“I just have one question,” Hewitt’s Julie says, peering through the trauma and the years. “What did you do last summer?”

The trailer promises a slick blend of legacy and reboot, featuring eerie callbacks, blood-soaked set pieces, and the unmistakable shlink of that deadly hook. It also raises questions: Where are Ray and Julie now in their relationship? What ties these killings to the past? And who’s under the hood this time?

Joining Hewitt and Prinze Jr. are a new cast of soon-to-be-paranoid protagonists, including Madelyn Cline, Chase Sui Wonders, Lola Tung, Jonah Hauer-King, and Sarah Pidgeon. Austin Nichols, Billy Campbell, and others round out the ensemble.

I Know What You Did Last Summer slices into Australian cinemas on July 17th and U.S. cinemas on July 18th.
