‘Imaginary’ Trailer: Blumhouse Horror Film Unleashes a Terrifying Teddy Bear

Take a look at the trailer that’s arrived for horror film Imaginary, from hit studio Blumhouse (Get Out, The Invisible Man, M3GAN).

The film looks at the innocence of imaginary friends – and begs the question: Are they really figments of childhood imagination or is something more terrifying lying just beneath?

The plot follows Jessica (DeWanda Wise), who moves back into her childhood home with her family. Things take a dark turn when her youngest stepdaughter Alice (Pyper Braun) develops an eerie attachment to a stuffed bear named Chauncey she finds in the basement. Alice starts playing games with Chauncey that begin playful and become increasingly sinister. As Alice’s behavior becomes more and more concerning, Jessica intervenes only to realise Chauncey is much more than the stuffed toy bear she believed him to be.

The film is directed by Jeff Wadlow, whose credits include Kick-Ass 2, Never Back Down, and 2018 horror film Truth or Dare. Wadlow wrote the screenplay with Greg Erb & Jason Oremland, writers who, interestingly, are more known for children fare with credits such as The Princess and the Frog and Playmobil: The Movie.

Imaginary, also starring Tom Payne, Taegan Burns, Veronica Falcon, and Betty Buckley, will open in Australian cinemas on March 7th and U.S. cinemas on March 8th.
