The first trailer has finally arrived for the long-awaited fifth Indiana Jones film, titled Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.
Harrison Ford returns as the legendary archaeologist for one last time in an adventure directed by Logan, Walk the Line and Ford v Ferrari helmer James Mangold. Steven Spielberg had been attached as director on the project for quite sometime, but eventually passed on the reins while staying on as executive producer alongside George Lucas.
There’s no official plot synopsis to go on as yet, but the trailer below does drop some pretty big hints as to what lies ahead. Plenty of nostalgia and action shown off, as well as quick glimpses of cast members Mads Mikkelsen (playing a Nazi villain named Voller), Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Indy’s goddaughter, Helena), Boyd Holbrook, Toby Jones, and Antonio Banderas. Plus, a look at a de-aged Ford – part of what will be the film’s big opening sequence, taking audiences back to 1944 in an intro that finds a younger Indy in a castle packed with Nazis. The film also sees the return of Sallah, with John Rhys-Davies back in the role for the first time since Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny will be opening in Australian cinemas on June 29th and U.S. cinemas on June 30th, 2023.
