Take a look above at the trailer that’s arrived for Australian crime thriller Inside, starring Guy Pearce (The Brutalist), Cosmo Jarvis (Shōgun), and newcomer Vincent Miller (Plum).
The debut feature from writer-director Charles Williams, whose short film All These Creatures won the Palme d’Or at Cannes in 2018, Inside is a prison film that explores the lives of individuals trapped not only by physical barriers but also by the prisons they create within themselves. The story centres on Mel Blight (Miller), a young man navigating life after being transferred to an adult prison. He becomes entangled in a complex dynamic with two polarising inmates: Australia’s most infamous criminal, Mark Shepard (Jarvis), and the soon-to-be-released Warren Murfett (Pearce).
“Inside is a movie that’s been with me in some form or another for the better part of a decade,” Williams said in a statement. “I wanted to make the kind of film that resonated with me growing up. Movies that you could get lost in, often uncovering very specific worlds and complicated characters. They felt very real but also oddly transporting and almost spiritual – while still being visceral, cinematic experiences for the big screen. It’s been such an honour to collaborate with this incredible cast and crew to bring Inside to life.”
Shot with the support of VicScreen, Screen NSW, and the Melbourne International Film Festival Premiere Fund, the film comes from producers Marian Macgowan (Two Hands, The Great) and Kate Glover (The Phantom of the Open), and executive producer Thomas M. Wright (The Stranger).
Inside will be released in Australian cinemas on 27 February 2025.
