The first trailer has arrived for Limbo, an Australian detective mystery-crime drama starring Simon Baker.

The seventh feature from filmmaker Ivan Sen (Mystery Road, Goldstone), Limbo tells the story of a jaded detective (Baker) who arrives in the titular remote Outback town to investigate the cold case murder of Charlotte Hayes, a local Indigenous girl who was killed 20 years ago. As truths about the murder begin to unfold, the detective gains a new insight into the unsolved case from the victim’s fractured family, the surviving witnesses and the reclusive brother of the chief suspect.

The film also stars Rob Collins (Mystery Road the TV series, Firebite), Natasha Wanganeen (Firebite, Rabbit-Proof Fence) and Nicholas Hope (Bad Boy Bubby, The Drover’s Wife: The Legend of Molly Johnson).

Limbo, described as “a poignant, intimate journey into the complexities of loss and the impact of the justice system on Aboriginal families in Australia,” was screened In Competition at Berlinale – the Berlin International Film Festival, where it gathered highly positive reviews.

Distributors Dark Matter Distribution and Bonsai Films are giving Limbo an Australian theatrical release on 18 May. Sen and Baker will also be touring the country in May for yet-to-be-announced advanced Q&A screenings.
