Squid Game star Lee Jung-jae and The Glory star Lim Ji-yeon look to be teaming up for something far lighter—and funnier—than the darker fare you may know them from.

Prime Video has officially unveiled Nice to Not Meet You, an upcoming Korean romantic comedy series that will roll out globally with new episodes released weekly. The series stars Lee Jung-jae and Lim Ji-yeon, two major names in Korean screen drama, and promises a blend of industry satire, sharp dialogue, and a classic opposites-attract setup.

A Rom-Com Set in the Entertainment Industry

The series follows Lim Hyeon-jun (Lee Jung-jae), a seasoned actor best known for playing Kang Pil-gu in a long-running detective series now heading into its fifth season. While his show remains a hit, Hyeon-jun yearns for something more—he wants to break out of typecast roles and dive into the emotional depth of melodramas.

Enter Wi Jeong-sin (Lim Ji-yeon), an award-winning political journalist who’s suddenly reassigned to entertainment reporting mid-investigation. Jeong-sin finds herself reluctantly covering a world she has little respect for—only to become entangled with Hyeon-jun, the very actor she doesn’t want to write about. As their paths keep crossing, professional tension begins to give way to unexpected chemistry.

Creative Team and Global Rollout

Nice to Not Meet You is directed by Kim Ga-ram (Good Partner, Nevertheless) and written by Jung Yeo-rang (Doctor Cha). The series is co-produced by Studio Dragon and Studio&NEW. While it will air locally in South Korea on network TVN, Prime Video holds international rights and will debut the series in over 240 countries and territories.

The show joins Prime Video’s growing Korean content library, which includes series like Head Over Heels, GOOD BOY, and Divorce Insurance. The move also marks a strategic play for the streamer, aiming to capitalise on the global K-drama boom currently dominated by Netflix.

Post-Squid Game Move for Lee Jung-jae

Nice to Not Meet You represents a significant genre shift for Lee Jung-jae, who gained international acclaim (and an Emmy win) for his role in Squid Game before moving into the Star Wars universe with The Acolyte. It also sees Lim Ji-yeon continuing to build on her dramatic acclaim from The Glory with a turn toward romantic comedy.

A release date has yet to be confirmed, but Nice to Not Meet You is officially on the way—and with this duo in the lead, expect plenty of sparks.
