Searchlight Pictures has released the official trailer for Nightbitch, a darkly comedic psychological horror film led by six-time Oscar nominee Amy Adams. Take a look at the bizarre tale above.
Directed by Marielle Heller (A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, Can You Ever Forgive Me?), Nightbitch centres on a suburban mother, portrayed by Adams, who begins to suspect she is turning into a dog (yep!). Struggling with the pressures of raising a toddler as a stay-at-home mum, she finds herself gradually drawn to a feral, primal side that emerges through her experience of motherhood.
The film is an adaptation of Rachel Yoder’s debut novel, the rights of which were acquired by Adams’ Bond Group Entertainment and Megan Ellison’s Annapurna Pictures. Searchlight Pictures secured worldwide distribution rights in 2022 in a deal reportedly valued at over $25 million.
The producer team behind Nightbitch includes Adams and Stacy O’Neil (Dead Ringers) for Bond Group, Heller for Defiant By Nature, Anne Carey (20th Century Women), Christina Oh (Minari), and Sue Naegle (Shirley). Executive producers include Annapurna’s Ellison and Sammy Scher, along with Defiant By Nature’s Havilah Brewster and Adam Paulsen.
Nightbitch, with a supporting cast that includes Scoot McNairy, Arleigh Patrick Snowden, Emmett James Snowden, Zoë Chao, and Jessica Harper, will be opening in US cinemas on December 6th.
