Owen Wilson and Alan Ritchson are set to co-star in Runner, a high-stakes action drama directed by Scott Waugh (Need for Speed, Act of Valor, Expendables 4). The film, based on a Black List script by Tommy White and Miles Hubley, is gearing up for production in Queensland, Australia, this March.
Ritchson (Reacher) will be starring as Hank Malone, an elite courier tasked with delivering a life-saving organ within a tight three-hour window to save a young girl’s life. However, the seemingly straightforward mission takes a deadly turn when a ruthless crime syndicate sets its sights on the package. Wilson joins the cast as Ben, a medical courier who finds himself reluctantly swept into the dangerous race against time.
“This pairing [of Wilson and Ritchson] is something I believe audiences have been hungry for,” said director Scott Waugh in a statement quoted by Deadline, the outlet that broke the news. “And we strive to achieve the unexpected from the page-turner script that Miles and Tommy delivered.”
