Take a look at the official teaser trailer that Netflix has released for Pinocchio, an upcoming stop-motion animated musical directed by Guillermo del Toro and Mark Gustafso (animation director of Wes Anderson’s Fantastic Mr. Fox).

Written by del Toro and Patrick McHale (Adventure Time, Over the Garden Wall), this is a new take on the classic 1883 Italian novel by Carlo Collodi. The fantastical tale tells of a wooden marionette (voiced by Gregory Mann, Victoria) who is magically brought to life in order to mend the heart of a grieving woodcarver named Geppetto (David Bradley, Game of Thrones). We follow the mischievous and disobedient adventures of “the wooden boy with the borrowed soul” as he attempts to find his place in the world.

The voice cast for del Toro’s first animated feature includes Ewan McGregor as Sebastian J. Cricket, Christoph Waltz as Count Volpe, Tilda Swinton as the Fairy with Turquoise Hair, Finn Wolfhard as Candlewick, Ron Perlman as the Podestà, and Cate Blanchett as Sprezzatura the Monkey, among others.

Pinocchio will be getting a theatrical release in the U.S. in November before hitting Netflix worldwide in December.
