Netflix has released the teaser trailer for Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, the upcoming limited series that serves as a prequel to the streamer’s hit period drama, Bridgerton.

Fans will be taken back in time to explore how a young Queen Charlotte (played by India Amarteifio, The Tunnel) rose to prominence and power. The story follows the young Queen’s marriage to King George, a union that sparked both a great love story and a societal shift, creating the world of the ton inherited by the characters in Bridgerton.

The cast includes returning Bridgerton cast members Golda Rosheuvel, reprising the role of the older queen, Adjoa Andoh back as Lady Agatha Danbury, Ruth Gemmell as Lady Violet Bridgerton, and Hugh Sachs as Brimsley. Also among the ensemble: Arsema Thomas as a young Agatha Danbury, Corey Mylchreest as young King George, Michelle Fairley as Princess Augusta, Sam Clemmett as young Brimsley, and Freddie Dennis as Reynolds, among others.

The series comes from Bridgerton executive producer and high-profile television creative Shonda Rhimes. Shondaland, the television production company created by the Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal creator, has a partnership affiliation with Netflix that also produced miniseries Inventing Anna.

Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story will be streaming on Netflix from May 4th.
