Australian comedian and media personality Celeste Barber leads her own Netflix series with Wellmania, a comedy-drama heading to the streaming giant in March.
The official trailer has arrived for the series, which has Barber playing a food writer and human tornado who finds herself forced to rethink her ‘live fast die young’ attitude. After she scores a once-in-a lifetime job that will catapult her into the American mainstream, a series of unfortunate events in Australia sees her banned from re-entering the States unless she fixes her health. Throwing herself body-first into a wellness journey, she tries everything – from the benign to the bizarre – in an attempt to get well quick, and reclaim her old life.
The eight-part series is inspired by the book Wellmania: Misadventures in the Search for Wellness, by author and journalist Brigid Delaney, and is co-created with Benjamin Law.
Wellmania, also starring JJ Fong, Genevieve Mooy, Lachlan Buchanan, Remy Hii, Alexander Hodge, Simone Kessell, Virginie Laverdure, and Johnny Carr, will be streaming on Netflix from March 29th.
