Netflix‘s $US200 million blockbuster Red Notice was apparently worth every penny.

The streaming giant is reportedly working on not only one, but two sequels to the action-comedy that united Dwayne Johnson, Gal Gadot and Ryan Reynolds on the screen. According to Deadline, Netflix is looking to have both Red Notice 2 and 3 shot back to back in the first half of 2023.

Red Notice director and writer Rawson Marshall Thurber is set to return at the helm and has reportedly started working on the screenplays for the follow-ups. The sequels will apparently expand the Red Notice world and bring in new cast members and characters to turn this into a franchise in the vein of Ocean’s Eleven.

Johnson, Gadot and Reynolds are, of course, being asked to return and the 2023 window will mostly depend on their availability. The three stars earned big with Red Notice, cashing in $US20 million each. Thurber reportedly earned around $US10 million. No word as yet on what they’ll be getting for the next films… it will likely be as eye-watering.

Netflix has yet to officially comment on this news, but this is certainly no surprise. While a streaming and limited theatrical run meant there weren’t clear-cut box office numbers to look at, Red Notice has become Netflix’s most-successful Original Film thus far, gathering a whopping 364,020,000 hours watched in the first 28 days of release.
