‘Saint Clare’ Trailer: Bella Thorne Hears Voices That Make Her a Murderous Vigilante in Mystery-Thriller

The official trailer has arrived for Saint Clare, an upcoming mystery-thriller led by Bella Thorne and set for a U.S. release in July. Take a look above and learn more below.

An adaptation of Don Roff novel Clare at Sixteen, the film stars Thorne stars as Clare Bleecker, a quiet Catholic college student in a small town who finds herself haunted by voices. The disturbing visions push her towards murder, targeting those with dark intentions. But as her killing spree escalates, Clare’s actions pull her into a deeper web of corruption, trafficking, and supernatural visions that threaten to consume her entirely.

The film is directed by Mitzi Peirone (Braid), who also co-wrote the film alongside American Psycho co-writer Guinevere Turner. The cast includes Rebecca De Mornay, Frank Whaley, Ryan Phillippe, Bart Johnson, Joel Michaely, Joy Rovaris, Jan Luis Castellanos, Dylan Flashner, and Erica Dasher. Thorne also serves as an executive producer on the film.

Peirone described the film as a deeply personal creative journey. “I think making Saint Clare taught me the same lessons the titular character is forced to master on her journey towards her own fate,” the filmmaker said in a statement.

“To me, artists and people of faith are rather alike: both endeavors require relentless vision, unwavering belief, and sacrifice. So just like the martyred visionary general Joan of Arc, Clare has taught me that when you are destined with vision and clarity of purpose, then nothing can scare you – not loneliness, not violence, not being misunderstood and called insane, not rejection and ultimately not even death.”

The film had its premiere at the 2024 Taormina Film Festival and has since screened at FrightFest, Oldenburg International Film Festival, and SXSW Sydney. It won Best Narrative Feature and Best Director at the L.A. Independent Women Film Awards.

Saint Clare will be released in select U.S. theatres and On Demand from July 18 via Quiver Distribution.
