‘Superman’: Watch the Extended Sneak Peek James Gunn Unveiled at CinemaCon

DC and Warner Bros. have officially released a nearly five-minute sneak peek for Superman, offering fans a bigger look at James Gunn’s highly anticipated take on the iconic hero. First screened at CinemaCon, the footage is now online—coming with more footage than what we got in the much-played first trailer.

We open with Superman—bloodied, beaten, and face-down in the snow. It’s the same scene we’ve seen play out previously – but it’s extended this time around. After whistle-calling for help, he’s greeted by the adorable Krypto the Superdog, who’s more interested in having a play than assisting a broken Kryptonian. Eventually, Krypto gets the message, dragging Clark back to the Fortress of Solitude where we meet a group of helpful robots and our hero is given a painful sunlight-charged boost of healing. But it’s not all snow and dogs – the sneak peek also offers up extended footage of snippets we’ve seen before.

David Corenswet leads as Clark Kent/Superman, Rachel Brosnahan plays Lois Lane, while Nicholas Hoult takes on the villainous Lex Luthor. The supporting cast includes Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern Guy Gardner, and Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, among others.

“I cannot wait to share the film with all you guys and the rest of the world,” Gunn said from the stage at CinemaCon. “We’re still in the throes of post-production.”

With this being the first chapter of the newly forming DC Universe, which Gunn and Peter Safran are spearheading, the pressure is certainly on for Superman to perform well. Hopefully it does.

Superman flies into Australian cinemas on July 10 and opens in the U.S. on July 11.
