Major ‘Supernatural’ Reunion Set for ‘The Boys’ Season 5: Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins to Join Jensen Ackles

Supernatural fans will have reason to celebrate and tune into the next season of Prime Video’s hit series The Boys. Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins are officially joining the cast for the show’s fifth and final season, reuniting them with their former Supernatural co-star Jensen Ackles, who has portrayed Soldier Boy since season three.

The casting announcement was made on social media via a video featuring the three actors. “Hey Jared, we’ve got work to do… again,” Ackles teased. Padalecki then responded, “Okay. I’ll tell Misha,” unveiling a certain familiar vehicle in the background. Collins then appeared with a big thumbs up and an “Okay!”… before asking, “What are we doing?”

While details about Padalecki and Collins’ roles remain under wraps, it has been confirmed that the three actors will share scenes together.

Showrunner Eric Kripke, who created Supernatural and served as its showrunner for the first five seasons, has long expressed interest in reuniting with Padalecki. Speaking to Variety last year, he joked that he had “to complete my game of Supernatural Pokémon,” with an aim to cast as many of that show’s cast members in The Boys as possible.  “I have my one big one — very big one — left to catch.”

Supernatural alums cast in the series thus far include Jim Beaver, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, and Rob Benedict.

Padalecki and Ackles starred alongside each other for all 15 seasons of Supernatural, which ran from 2005 to 2020, while Collins was a major presence in the series for 12 seasons as the angel Castiel.

With production on The Boys season five currently underway, fans will have to wait to see how Padalecki and Collins fit into the show’s explosive final chapter. The season is expected to premiere in 2026.
