The first trailer has been unveiled for upcoming sci-fi film The Creator, directed by Rogue One and Godzilla helmer Gareth Edwards.

John David Washington (Tenet) leads the cast, playing a hardened ex-special forces agent caught in a future war between the human race and the forces of artificial intelligence. He is recruited to hunt down and kill the Creator, the elusive architect of advanced AI who has developed a mysterious weapon with the power to end the war.. and mankind itself. Joshua and his team of elite operatives journey across enemy lines, into the dark heart of AI-occupied territory.. only to discover the world-ending weapon he’s been instructed to destroy is an AI in the form of a young child.

Gareth Edwards came up with the story and wrote the screenplay for The Creator alongside Chris Weitz, who co-wrote Rogue One and whose credits include About a Boy and 2015’s Cinderella.

Could be a big one here. Fingers crossed it delivers. The Creator, also starring Gemma Chan, Ken Watanabe, Sturgill Simpson, Madeleine Yuna Voyles, and Allison Janney, will be in Australian cinemas on September 28th and U.S. cinemas on September 29th.
