20th Century Studios has unveiled the first official trailer (above) and poster (below) for The First Omen, a prequel to the iconic horror film franchise that had its first chapter released in 1976.

The First Omen transports viewers to Rome and follows a young American woman (played by Nell Tiger Free, known for her role in Apple TV+ series Servant) embarking on a life dedicated to the church. However, her journey takes a sinister turn as she confronts a malevolent darkness. This encounter not only shakes her faith to its core but also entangles her in a horrifying conspiracy that hopes to orchestrate the birth of evil incarnate.

The film’s cast includes Tawfeek Barhom (Mary Magdalene), Sonia Braga (Kiss of the Spider Woman), Ralph Ineson (The Northman), and the esteemed Bill Nighy (Living).

Director is Arkasha Stevenson, making her feature directorial debut following short films and television credits including Legion, Brand New Cherry Flavor, and Channel Zero. Stevenson also co-wrote the screenplay with Keith Thomas (The Vigil) and Tim Smith.

The First Omen is set to creep out (hopefully) audiences in Australian cinemas from April 4th and U.S. cinemas from April 5th.
