Davidson is trading punchlines in this new horror film from The Purge creator James DeMonaco. The Saturday Night Live alum plays Max, a twenty-something sentenced to community service in what should’ve been a quiet retirement home. Naturally, things go very wrong.

At first, Max’s punishment seems like an easy gig—until he’s warned about the fourth floor, where the residents supposedly require “special care.” It doesn’t take long before he’s pulled into the facility’s eerie underbelly, where whispers become screams and the elderly turn into something far more dangerous. “There’s something very wrong with this place,” an elderly woman tells him early on. She’s not wrong.
The trailer builds up a creepy atmosphere quickly, hinting at violent outbursts, strange medical experiments, and a general vibe that feels more Session 9 than Cocoon. “Hey man, I’m not going to hurt you,” Max pleads with one resident—just before they lunge at him.
Director James DeMonaco, who also co-wrote the film with Adam Cantor, says he drew inspiration from classic genre roots. “When I set out to create The Home, I aimed to capture the spine-chilling eeriness of 70’s horror, where suspense simmers and ultimately erupts into glorious chaos,” he explained in a statement. “Joining me is my Staten Island brother, Pete Davidson, who unveils a darker, dramatic side as his character navigates a bizarre group of residents in an old age home.”
DeMonaco teases a payoff for horror fans too: “The growing tension culminates in an epic blood-soaked finale, designed to leave audiences gasping, terrified, and cheering. I can’t wait for everyone to visit The Home. Cover your eyes, folks.”
The Home, with a cast that also includes John Glover and Bruce Altman, hits US cinemas on July 25.
