The teaser trailer has arrived for The Man Who Fell to Earth, an upcoming series adaptation of Walter Tevis’ 1963 novel of the same name and the memorable 1976 film adaptation starring David Bowie.

Oscar nominee Chiwetel Ejiofor plays the titular alien character in this version. Arriving on Earth at a turning point in human evolution, he must confront his own past to determine our future. Naomie Harris plays Justin Fall, a brilliant scientist and engineer who must conquer her own demons in the race to save two worlds.

This project has had a bumpy road to fruition, going from Hulu, to CBS All Access, to Paramount+, and finally to Showtime. Fingers crossed it’s all been worth it; at least from the flashes offered in the teaser, it certainly looks enticing. The series is written and executive produced by Alex Kurtzman and Jenny Lumet (Star Trek: Picard, Star Trek: Discovery), with Kurtzman also directing multiple episodes.

Also starring Jimmi Simpson, Clarke Peters, Rob Delaney, Sonya Cassidy, Joana Ribeiro, and Annelle Olayele, The Man Who Fell to Earth will be premiering on Showtime sometime during the U.S. spring season (March, April, May).
