Marvel Studios has unveiled a big new trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder, the upcoming MCU film that reunites Chris Hemsworth‘s God of Thunder with Natalie Portman‘s Jane Foster, and introduces Christian Bale as a new villain, Gorr the God Butcher.
Thor’s next chapter finds his journey of self-discovery interrupted by the aforementioned galactic killer, who wants nothing more than to see all gods annihilated. In order to take on this grave threat, Thor enlists the help of friends King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson) and Korg (director Taika Waititi, back as the rocky Kronan warrior). Also on the team is his ex, Jane, who – to Thor’s surprise – is inexplicably wielding his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor.
As you’d expect, an exciting trailer below, unveiling a colourful and humourous adventure from returning helmer Waititi. The trailer also offers up Russell Crowe‘s appearance as Zeus (who gives everyone some Thor eye candy when he flicks off what he believes to be our hero’s disguise) and a snippet of some Guardians of the Galaxy members in action. It’s not all colour and laughs, though; we get our first proper look at Bale’s baddie, appropriately nightmarish with almost monochrome visuals. Can’t wait!
Thor: Love and Thunder, which Waititi also co-wrote with Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (Someone Great, Unpregnant), will open in Australian cinemas on July 6th and U.S. cinemas on July 8th.
