The official trailer has launched for Twisted Metal, an upcoming half-hour live-action series adaptation of the cult classic PlayStation video game of the same name.

Set in a post-apocalyptic wasteland, the series finds Anthony Mackie playing a motor-mouthed delivery driver who is offered a better life if he can deliver a mysterious package. With the help of a badass axe-wielding car thief (Stephanie Beatriz, Brooklyn 99), he’ll face savage marauders driving vehicles of destruction and other dangers of the open road, including a deranged clown, Sweet Tooth (Will Arnett, Arrested Development), who drives an all too familiar ice cream truck.

The cast includes Thomas Haden Church (Sideways, Spider-Man: No Way From Home), Neve Campbell (The Lincoln Lawyer, Scream) and Joe Seanoa (AEW).

The series is written by Michael Jonathan Smith (Cobra Kai) and executive produced by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (Deadpool, Zombieland), Mackie, Arnett and Marc Forman (Electric Avenue), Jason Spire (Inspire Entertainment), Peter Principato (Artists First), Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan from PlayStation Productions, and Hermen Hulst, Head of PlayStation Studios. The project is produced by Sony Pictures Television, PlayStation Productions and Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group.

Twisted Metal will premiere on Stan in Australia and Peacock in the U.S. on July 27th.

Check out the two versions of the trailer below: The first is “explicit,” with a few cuss words and a bit of gore, and the second offers up a tamer edit.
