The official trailer has arrived for Black Bag, a Cate Blanchett and Michael Fassbender starring spy thriller directed by Academy Award-winning filmmaker Steven Soderbergh (Traffic, Ocean’s Eleven). Take a look above.
Blanchett and Fassbender play a married pair of legendary intelligence agents, Kathryn and George Woodhouse. It’s a risking pairing – one that’s pushed to the brink when Kathryn is suspected of betraying the nation. George finds himself facing an impossible choice: his commitment to his wife or his duty to his country. Marisa Abela’s character poses a key question in the trailer: “When you can lie about everything, when you can deny everything, how do you tell the truth about anything?”
The cast here includes Regé-Jean Page, Naomie Harris, Tom Burke, and Pierce Brosnan. The film marks a reunion between Soderbergh with his two leads; Blanchett starred in Soderbergh films The Good German and Ocean’s 8, while Fassbender had a role in Haywire.
The screenplay was written by Jurassic Park and Mission: Impossible scribe David Koepp, who reunites with Soderbergh following their work on the supernatural thriller Presence. Casey Silver and Greg Jacobs serve as producers.
Universal Pictures will release Black Bag in Australian cinemas on March 13 and Focus Features releases the film in the US on March 14.
