The trailer has arrived for the third season of Netflix‘s popular period series Bridgerton. Watch it above.

In season 3, based on the fourth book in Julia Quinn’s book series, Romancing Mister Bridgerton, Penelope Featherington (played by Nicola Coughlan) has relinquished her longstanding infatuation with Colin Bridgerton (portrayed by Luke Newton) after his disparaging remarks about her in the previous season. Determined to embrace matrimony, she seeks a husband who can grant her the autonomy to maintain her dual identity as Lady Whistledown, away from familial constraints. However, beset by insecurities, Penelope’s ventures into the marriage market end in spectacular failure.

Meanwhile, Colin, fresh from his summer exploits, exudes a newfound confidence and charm. Yet, he is dismayed to find Penelope, his steadfast supporter, now aloof towards him. Seeking to restore their bond, Colin proposes to guide Penelope in bolstering her self-assurance to secure a match. However, as his tutelage yields unforeseen results, Colin grapples with the realisation that his feelings for Penelope may transcend mere friendship. Adding to Penelope’s dilemmas is her estrangement from Eloise (portrayed by Claudia Jessie), who forms an unlikely alliance, while Penelope’s increasing prominence in society complicates her efforts to conceal her alter ego, Lady Whistledown.

The cast of the new season includes returning faces such as Luke Thompson (Benedict Bridgerton), Golda Rosheuvel (Queen Charlotte), Adjoa Andoh (Lady Danbury), Ruth Gemmell (Violet Bridgerton), Lorraine Ashbourne (Mrs. Varley), Hannah Dodd (Francesca Bridgerton), Simone Ashley (Kate Sharma), Jonathan Bailey (Anthony Bridgerton), Harriet Cains (Philipa Featherington), Bessie Carter (Prudence Featherington), and Julie Andrews (Lady Whistledown), among others. Among the new faces are Daniel Francis as Marcus Anderson, James Phoon as Harry Dankworth, and The Crown’s Sam Phillips as Lord Debling, a new suitor for Penelope.

Bridgerton season 3, under the guidance of the new showrunner, Jess Brownell, will be released in two parts: Part 1 on May 16th and Part 2 on June 13th.
