Killer Clown Chaos: New ‘Clown in a Cornfield’ Trailer Unleashes Frendo

A new trailer for Clown in a Cornfield has arrived, offering a good look at Frendo—a grinning, knife-wielding clown who’s set to become horror’s latest slasher nightmare. Directed by Eli Craig, known for Tucker & Dale vs. Evil, the upcoming slasher blends old-school brutality with a twisted sense of humour. Take a look above.

Based on the Bram Stoker Award-winning novel by Adam Cesare, Clown in a Cornfield follows teenager Quinn Maybrook, played by Katie Douglas (Ginny & Georgia), as she and her father move to the struggling town of Kettle Springs. The town’s seen better days—its economic downturn, sparked by the loss of its corn syrup factory, has left tensions simmering. But things get worse when Frendo, the once-beloved mascot, returns as a masked killer. And there’s nothing friendly about him this time.

Early reviews are already coming in strong. At the time of writing, the film holds a 92% score on Rotten Tomatoes, with critics commending Craig’s balance of horror and comedy. Looks like Frendo’s debut could earn him a spot among horror’s more memorable masked killers.

The film also stars Kevin Durand, Will Sasso, and Carson MacCormac. It marks Craig’s third feature after horror-comedy Little Evil, a 2017 Netflix release starring Adam Scott and Evangeline Lilly.

Clown in a Cornfield opens in Australian cinemas on May 8 and in U.S. cinemas on May 9. A streaming release on Shudder will follow later this year.
