Johnny Depp’s Ebenezer Scrooge is in for one hell of a Christmas Eve. The new official trailer for Ebenezer has arrived, offering a much bigger look at Ti West‘s take on A Christmas Carol — including the ghosts coming for Scrooge, more of the supporting cast and a stronger taste of the film’s gothic edge. Watch the trailer above and get the details below.
The Ghosts Come for Johnny Depp’s Scrooge
Where the first Ebenezer trailer was largely about introducing Johnny Depp‘s heavily transformed Scrooge — and having some fun with just how unpleasant he is — this new footage puts much more of the story on the table.
More on Screen Realm:
Ian McKellen‘s Jacob Marley arrives in chains with a simple warning: “You will be haunted by three spirits.” From there, Scrooge’s Christmas Eve rapidly turns into a nightmare as he is dragged through visions of his past, present and future, confronted with the life he has built and what may be waiting for him at the end of it.
West certainly isn’t shying away from the ghost-story side of Dickens’ tale. The trailer serves up candlelit rooms, spectral visitors, ominous graveyard imagery and Scrooge apparently being buried alive, while still leaving plenty of room for Depp to have some fun with the miserable old man.
We also get a little of the people caught in Scrooge’s orbit, including Rupert Grint as the put-upon Bob Cratchit, Sam Claflin as Scrooge’s nephew Fred and Daisy Ridley. Andrea Riseborough appears as the Ghost of Christmas Past, while Tramell Tillman plays the Ghost of Christmas Present.
Ti West Says This Isn’t About Reinventing Dickens

For all the gothic imagery and horror credentials West brings after X, Pearl and MaXXXine, the filmmaker says he hasn’t approached Ebenezer as an excuse to completely overhaul the source material.
“I love the book, so I’m really not trying to do a spin on the story that is not faithful to the story,” West told Entertainment Weekly.
West said the film does have its own perspective and some departures, along with stylistic choices that fall within his wheelhouse, but that his approach remains respectful of Dickens’ text.
As for Depp, West said the actor still hits “all of the classic Scrooge moments that make him an unlikable guy”, while also finding “a certain sense of humor and charm” in the character.
Johnny Depp’s Major Hollywood Return

Ebenezer also marks Depp’s first major Hollywood studio film since 2018’s Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. He has appeared on the big screen since then, including in French historical drama Jeanne du Barry, and recently directed Modi: Three Days on the Wing of Madness.
The actor also has another studio project on the way with Day Drinker, the upcoming thriller from director Marc Webb co-starring Penélope Cruz and Madelyn Cline.
West directs Ebenezer from a screenplay by Nathaniel Halpern. The ensemble also includes Arthur Conti, Ellie Bamber, Henry Lloyd-Hughes and Charlie Murphy.
When Is Ebenezer Released?
Ebenezer opens in Australian cinemas on November 12 and U.S. cinemas on November 13, 2026.
