The trailer has been released for The Expendables 4, aka Expend4bles, the fourth film in the action franchise that’s been bringing together action heavies since 2010.

Franchise regulars Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, and Sylvester Stallone are all back for chapter four, and joining the franchise in this round are Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, Megan Fox, Tony Jaa, Iko Iwais, Jacob Scipio, Levy Tran, and Andy Garcia.

The plot finds the team of elite mercenaries, armed with every weapon they can get their hands on and the skills to use them, again taking on bad guys threatening world peace. As Garcia says in the trailer: “Terrorists have taken possession of nuclear missiles on a cargo ship off the coast. If these babies go off, it’ll be World War III.”

This is the first film in the series that Stallone is not in either the director or writer’s chair (he directed & co-wrote the first and co-wrote 2 and 3). Directing this time around is Scott Waugh, whose credits include Act of Valour and Need for Speed. The screenplay comes from Kurt Wimmer (Law Abiding Citizen, Equilibrium), Max Adams (The Terminal List), and Tad Daggerhart (Black Lotus).

The Expendables 4 will be opening in U.S. cinemas on September 22nd and Australian cinemas on October 5th. Watch the trailer below and scroll down for the film’s first poster, which has a tagline so silly, it’s awesome: “They’ll die when they’re dead.”
