‘Fast X’ Trailer: Vin Diesel Takes on Jason Momoa in Franchise’s Star-Studded Tenth Chapter

Universal Pictures

The first official trailer has been unleashed for the Fast and Furious franchise’s tenth chapter, titled Fast X.

Jason Momoa is the bad guy this time around, playing Dante, the son of nefarious Brazilian drug kingpin Hernan Reyes, who Dom (Vin Diesel) and his crew took out in 2011’s Fast Five. Dante has spent the last 12 masterminding a plan to make Dom pay the ultimate price – a plan that will scatter Dom’s family from Los Angeles to the catacombs of Rome, from Brazil to London and from Portugal to Antarctica. Everything is taken to the next level when Dom discovers that his own 8-year-old son (Leo Abelo Perry, Black-ish) is the ultimate target of Dante’s vengeance.

Talk about an ensemble! Apart from the many returning players, including Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Nathalie Emmanuel, Jordana Brewster, Sung Kang, Jason Statham, John Cena, Scott Eastwood, Helen Mirren and Charlize Theron, the film brings in Momoa, Brie Larson, Alan Richtson, Daniela Melchior, and Rita Moreno, among others.

The huge-budget (a reported price tag of $US340 million!) action extravaganza is directed by Louis Leterrier, whose credits include The Incredible Hulk, The Transporter and Now You See Me. The screenplay was penned by Justin Lin (who has previously directed five films in the series) and Dan Mazeau (Wrath of the Titans).

Fast X will be in Australian cinemas on May 18th and U.S. cinemas on May 19th.
