‘Godzilla Minus One’ Trailer Finds the Kaiju Stomping on Postwar Japan

Watch the trailer above for Godzilla Minus One, an upcoming Japanese kaiju film being released in a year commemorating the 70th anniversary of the popular monster.

The 37th film in the overall franchise and the 33rd Godzilla film from Japan studio Toho, Godzilla Minus One finds the nuclear radiation-empowered reptilian monster with its sights on Japan during post WWII. As if the country hasn’t gone through enough. “That monster will never forgive us,” says a character in the trailer.

The film is written and directed by Takashi Yamazaki, whose credits include Returner, Lupin III: The First, The Eternal Zero, and The Great War of Archimedes, among others. The cast includes Ryunosuke Kamiki, Minami Hamabe, Yuki Yamada, Munetaka Aoki, Hidetaka Yoshioka, Sakura Ando, and Kuranosuke Sasaki.

Godzilla Minus One will open in Japan on November 3rd and hit the United States on December 1st.
