Jared Leto to Face He-Man as ‘Masters of the Universe’ Villain Skeletor

Jared Leto has been officially cast as Skeletor in Amazon MGM’s upcoming live-action adaptation of Masters of the Universe. Directed by Travis Knight (Bumblebee, Kubo and the Two Strings), the film is set for a USA release on 5 June 2026.

Plot details are being kept under wraps, but the story is expected to follow the battle between He-Man and Skeletor for control of Castle Grayskull, the source of immense power on Eternia. Skeletor, one of pop culture’s most enduring villains, is a skull-faced sorcerer obsessed with unlocking the secrets of the castle to conquer the planet and beyond.

Joining Leto (as confirmed by various outlets, including Deadline and THR) in newly announced roles are Sam C. Wilson (House of the Dragon) as Trap Jaw, a cybernetic warrior; Kojo Attah (The Beekeeper) as Tri-Klops, a three-eyed inventor; and Hafthor Bjornsson (Game of Thrones) as Goat Man, a brutish enforcer.

Previously announced cast members include Nicholas Galitzine (Red, White & Royal Blue) as the film’s lead character, He-Man; Alison Brie (Community) as Skeletor’s cunning lieutenant, Evil-Lyn; Camila Mendes (Riverdale) as Teela; and Idris Elba (Hijack) as Man-at-Arms.

Chris Butler (ParaNorman) wrote the latest version of the screenplay. Nothing solid to go on regarding how the characters will be depicted, but Variety speculates that “Leto, Wilson, Attah and Bjornsson may deliver at least some of their performances via motion-capture CGI.”
