Take a look above at the official trailer that’s arrived for Longlegs, one messed up-looking horror-thriller starring Maika Monroe and Nicolas Cage.
It’s quite the potent trailer, managing to get that skin crawling and packing in a number of highly creepy, macabre visuals, all while – importantly – keeping plot turns under wraps. One thing’s for sure: this won’t be one for the easily disturbed.
What we do know of the plot: Monroe is playing an FBI agent looking into series of occult murders – a case that looks to be connected to her mysterious past. “I know you’re not afraid of a little bit of dark,” the killer can be heard telling her in the trailer. “Because you are the dark.”
Cage appears to be playing the serial killer, although the trailer is careful to keep him mostly off screen. Very intrigued to see just what Cage does with this role.
This one comes from writer-director Oz Perkins, credited as Osgood Perkins here. Perkins, the son of Psycho actor Anthony Perkins, previously directed horror films The Blackcoat’s Daughter (2015), I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House (2016), and Greta and Hansel (2020).
Longlegs, also starring Alicia Witt and Blair Underwood, will open in US cinemas on July 12th.
