Take a look above at the first trailer that Warner Bros. Pictures has dropped for The Alto Knights, a crime drama starring Robert De Niro in not one, but two roles.
De Niro takes on the dual roles of Frank Costello and Vito Genovese, two of New York’s most infamous crime bosses. Once close allies, their friendship crumbles under the weight of ambition and treachery, setting them on a collision course that shapes not only the Mafia but the broader landscape of mid-20th-century America.
A potentially winning combo of talent here. Apart from De Niro in a meaty two-parter, the film is directed by Oscar winner Barry Levinson, whose credits include Rain Man, Sleepers, and Wag the Dog, and penned by Nicholas Pileggi, best known for co-writing Martin Scorsese classics Goodfellas and Casino. The Alto Knights was stuck in development hell for decades (as far back as the early 1970s) until it finally got off the ground at Warner Bros. in 2022.
The Alto Knights, with a supporting cast that includes Debra Messing (Will & Grace), Cosmo Jarvis (ShĹŤgun), and Kathrine Narducci (The Irishman), is set to hit Australian cinemas on 20 March and U.S. cinemas on 21 March.
