An exciting “In-Production Teaser” trailer has arrived for the highly-anticipated Batman universe series The Penguin, with Colin Farrell reprising his role as Oswald Cobblepot.
The hype-building look at the series below offers up a surprising amount of footage for an “in-production” featurette – showcasing footage from behind the scenes and from the series itself.
The Penguin will be continuing the crime saga that filmmaker Matt Reeves kicked off with his Robert Pattinson-starring hit The Batman. From the first-look piece below, the 8-episode series looks suitably dark as we see Cobblepot become a Gotham gangster of even more notoriety. “The world isn’t built for guys like us,” he says. “That’s why we have to take what’s ours.”

The cast of the series includes Cristin Milioti (on board as female lead Sofia Falcone), Michael Kelly, Theo Rossi, Clancy Brown (as Salvatore Maroni), Shohreh Aghdashloo, Deirdre O’Connell, Carmen Ejogo, and Rhenzy Feliz, among others.
Reeves is an executive producer on the series alongside Lauren LeFranc (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Hemlock Grove), who writes and serves as showrunner, and Craig Zobel (Mare of Easttown), director of three episodes.
Still no release date for The Penguin, which is heading to Max, the new name given to Warner Bros. Discovery’s just-announced restructuring of HBO Max. Reeves’ The Batman II, by the way, is currently scheduled for U.S. release on October 3rd, 2025.
