New ‘Wonka’ Trailer: Timothée Chalamet Builds a Chocolate Factory in Musical Prequel

Take a look above at the big new trailer that Warner Bros. has unveiled for Wonka, the upcoming Charlie and the Chocolate Factory prequel with Timothée Chalamet playing a younger Willy Wonka.

Offering a new look at the character at the center of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Roald Dahl’s most iconic children’s book and one of the best-selling children’s books of all time. As described by WB, this young Wonka is “chock-full of ideas and determined to change the world one delectable bite at a time—proving that the best things in life begin with a dream, and if you’re lucky enough to meet Willy Wonka, anything is possible.”

The film is directed by Paul King, known for his two beloved Paddington films. King wrote the screenplay alongside Simon Farnaby, whose credits include Paddington 2 and BBC comedy-fantasy series Ghosts.

A large supporting cast here, including Hugh Grant as an Oompa-Loompa, Calah Lane, Keegan-Michael Key, Paterson Joseph, Matt Lucas, Mathew Baynton, Sally Hawkins, Rowan Atkinson, Jim Carter, Olivia Colman, Natasha Rothwell, Rich Fulcher, Rakhee Thakrar, Tom Davis and Kobna Holdbrook-Smith.

Wonka is set to open in Australia on December 14th and in the U.S. on December 15th.
