The trailer has arrived for Flight Risk, a plane-set thriller that marks the surprising next directorial venture for Oscar-winner Mel Gibson, known for helming Braveheart, The Passion of the ChristApocalypto, Hacksaw Ridge, and The Man Without a Face.

The plot finds Mark Wahlberg playing a seemingly ordinary pilot, at the controls of a flight carrying two passengers: an Air Marshal (played by Michelle Dockery) and the fugitive (Topher Grace) that she’s been tasked to transport to New York, where he’ll be testifying against a notorious criminal family. As their flight crosses the treacherous Alaskan wilderness, the narrative quickly escalates into a suspenseful thriller. Wahlberg’s character is revealed to be a hitman, and the fugitive is his target.

The film is written by Jared Rosenberg (with his first produced feature screenplay), with John Davis, John Fox, Bruce Davey, and Gibson himself serving as producers.

Flight Risk will open in US cinemas on October 18th.
