The first trailer for Kung Fu Panda 4 has just dropped. After nearly a decade, Jack Black reprises his voice role as unlikely kung fu master Po in the latest installment of DreamWorks Animation’s cherished action-comedy franchise.

Having braved three death-defying adventures and vanquished world-class villains with his unparalleled courage and martial arts prowess, Po, aka the Dragon Warrior, is thrust into a role he’s ill-prepared for: becoming the Spiritual Leader of the Valley of Peace. Adding to it all, a formidable and malevolent sorceress, Chameleon (Oscar winner Viola Davis), has recently emerged. Chameleon, a diminutive lizard with shape-shifting abilities, has her covetous eyes set on Po’s Staff of Wisdom. If she obtains it, she can summon back all the master villains Po previously defeated, unleashing chaos upon the spirit realm.

Po crosses paths with the cunning and quick-witted thief Zhen (Awkwafina), a corsac fox who manages to get on Po’s nerves, but possesses invaluable skills. In their quest to safeguard the Valley of Peace from Chameleon’s sinister designs, this unlikely comedic duo must learn to work together.

Returning voice talents include Dustin Hoffman as Kung Fu master Shifu, James Hong as Po’s adoptive father Mr. Ping, Bryan Cranston as Po’s birth father Li, and Ian McShane as the formidable Tai Lung, Shifu’s former student and nemesis. Ke Huy Quan also joins the ensemble as a new character, voicing Han, the leader of the Den of Thieves.

Directed by Mike Mitchell (known for DreamWorks Animation’s Trolls and Shrek Forever After) and produced by Rebecca Huntley (from DreamWorks Animation’s The Bad Guys), Kung Fu Panda 4 is set to open in U.S. cinemas on March 8th and Australian cinemas on March 28th, 2024.
