Tom Holland is back in the suit — and this time, he’s kicking things off on top of a tank in Glasgow.
Sony has released the above behind-the-scenes video from the first day of filming Spider-Man: Brand New Day, giving fans a glimpse of the actor’s fourth “day one” as the MCU’s Peter Parker.
The footage opens with Holland arriving on set, greeting director Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Just Mercy), and getting ready to shoot a high-wire stunt in which Spider-Man tears the hatch off a moving armoured vehicle.

“It feels different this time”
“Yeah, I feel good, man. It’s day one, my fourth ever day one on Spider-Man,” Holland says in the video. “You know, it’s funny, putting the suit on, it feels different this time, somehow. It’s also the first time we’ve ever had fans on set for day one, so it’s really exciting to share this with them.”
The clip shows Holland taking time to meet some of those fans, including young Spider-Man cosplayers, before heading back to work. “We’ve got some familiar faces on set,” he adds. “I’m just gonna do my best, hopefully get it right. No pressure.”

Back on real streets
For Holland, filming in Glasgow marks a welcome change from the all-soundstage shoot of 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home. Speaking ahead of production last month, he described how much he was looking forward to being back on real locations.
“Now, we’re really gonna lean into that old-school filmmaking and shoot in real locations, which is why we’re starting in Glasgow and we’re gonna use the streets of Glasgow to build this massive set-piece that we’re putting together,” the actor said. “So it’s gonna feel like making [2017’s] Spider-Man 1 again. It’s been such a long time since I’ve done it, it’s gonna feel like a breath of fresh air, and I think the fans are going to be over the moon with what we’re putting together.”
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is directed by Cretton and features returning cast members Zendaya as MJ and Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds, alongside newcomers Sadie Sink and Liza Colón-Zayas.
The film swings into cinemas around Australia on July 30 and the U.S. on July 31, 2026.
